Who We Are

Our aim is education, and it’s important for creating a better society and giving all children a better future, quality of life, and work, to name a few. The high-quality early child education goes a long way in building the foundation for children to equip them with knowledge, confidence and opportunity for further higher education.

A group of like-minded friends came together to establish a non-profit organization called “Forum to Assist Children’s Education (FACE)”, with a single goal in mind, “To provide high-quality early child education to children from economically challenged families.” The pre-school concept and the implementation plan have been discussed by friends residing in different countries, as we know the importance of early education as it is a critical pathway for changing values and motivating improvements on key development indicators within the community.

FACE has been legally registered as a non-profit organization in Canada, France, Norway, Sri Lanka and the UK. FACE consists of ten (10) members: one representative from each country in which it was registered, a global coordinator, and five (5) members from Sri Lanka.

As part of the free education policy in Sri Lanka, primary and collegiate schools are supported by the Government which is very limited or no support at all to the pre-schools. This is vastly affecting the pre-schools in low-income areas. FACE is determined to provide better education to children who live in these areas. When children are educated, communities are better equipped to cope with adversity, crises and make investments in the future and more importantly, for their future.

Geographic Areas of Operation

For this purpose, we have identified the most affected regions of northern and eastern provinces, and the upcountry as our geographical areas of operation. We have been carrying out the overall implementation of our plan through field coordinators appointed by us in each of these areas to directly supervise the pre-schools of choice in their respective locations. In future, without limiting our operations to these areas alone, we will expand our scope to cover other vulnerable regions in the country as well.

Organizational Structure

Our organization is structured in three layers as follows:

  • Unit of the Field Coordinators
  • Board of the Country Executive Councils
  • Governing Executive Council
